A Month of Drawings

05/19

Yesterday I was edgy at dawn and wondered if I could really meditate and then draw. I saw 3 pine trees in the distance frame the bottle! The neck lost its form first because it is so thin. When I went up to the bottle there was a small bird sitting on it. I think he was a messenger.

This dawn the light appeared first on the shoulders of the bottle. The neck remained dim and the body of the bottle was strong and anchored. There was a tiny sliver of light on the top of the bottle. The design from top to bottle bottom was sliver of light, edgeless thin form, light following around shoulders, and dark weighty body with a perfect relection on the wet platform.

It is as though I've never seen this bottle before.

In Eastern Oregon time exposes rocks and wears down the hills. Eroded plateaus and buttes appear as though formed from some gigantic upheaval. The big sky arches over rolling, compressed land, and dark, hard-edged shadows reflect repeating hills. The bond between land and earth is solidly undisputed.

In Western Washington the contour of the rivers trace time. Dense growth overcomes the surrounding hills and valleys to create its own form, and damp shadows grow in the folds of the landscape. The earth receives what the moist sky offers, and their identities are often fused.
