Dawn & Dusk Home

1/26/00

Something has happened today, light wise. I don't think its a fluke. I will be watching. From solstice to Jan 21 the morning light increased 6 minutes and the evening light increased 31 minutes for a total of 37. My question is why more at night than in the morning. Find the answer to why we are gaining more light in the evening than in the morning.

A few birds sing. Just for a moment coyotes singing, too.
The neck of the bottle has been the lightest area. Since yesterday there are highlights on the 2 sides, and the neck is dark.
I, for once, am not getting in the way of this project. I do not know if I lack the energy or drive or have gained some wisdom. I don't know how to think about it. I'm just going. Somthing is leading, and it isn't me.

The sliver of light escapes me.

This morning the dawn was enchanting. The light moved softly in crisp white air. There is the briefiest sigh, and the light is up. I swear on that moment. I have known few as beautiful.

2/2/00

There are two celebrations that fall on February 2 that have to do with light. The first is Ground Hog Day. Candlemas, also celebrated on February 2, has its roots in ancient Irish Pagan traditions.
It is also an important festival in the Christian calendar bridging Christmas and Easter.

2/4/00

Something has changed with the light, but I can't describe it. The light has more air. My calendar says February 4 is Chinese spring. For a look at the Chinese year see

2/6/00

My observations on Feb. 4 were the first stirrings of spring. I had never noticed it before. How precise, how clear, how distinct, how small.

The days are sunny, and I watch the dried grasses blow and cast rhythmic shadows. I have the sensation of light changing. The light is coming out of the ground and moving up through the dried grass. I know the light shines down, but it seems like up is the more dominant movement.

2/8/00

Given what I've found out I should have more confidence in my observations.

I looked up, and the fog was in. In an instant the bottle had been gently swamped. In a brief vaporous moment the bottle closed. What a moment! I wish the drawing was the same.
