4/20/00

5:59 AM PDT
42 degrees
still
dense low lying fog, clear sky way up above, moon still visible, wet and damp

8:30PM PDT
54 degrees
still
no bird song only peepers, clear sky. Unclear about the route. I know this isn't how I see, but it feels right.

4/23/00
5:57 AM PDT
44 degrees
slight breeze, much bird song, greeted by 2 bunnies, of course, its Easter. Rat-a-tat-tat right on time, wet air, moving overcast,
moon still up

8:27 PM PDT
38 degrees
still, clear sky, chill air, heavy rain today making damp cold almost winter feeling air

4/28/00

The night sky is so thrilling and dramatic that I don't come down from the studio until very late, and then I can barely get up to do my dawn drawing. I usually put my clothes on over my jammies, do the drawing, and come back to bed. Mostly I dream and imagine. I can't sleep because I'm too full. After my dusk drawing I turn out the lights in the studio and watch the night come on. The clouds, light, sky, moon and stars are all on stage. It is the biggest set I've ever seen.

This is the damnest feeling I have, and its not new. I sometimes avoid finishing because it is a commitment. I'd rather go away (back to bed, swimming, eating, god knows), but the nagging and responsibility won't go away. So I have to go back up, and try the next idea, make the next gesture, move a collage piece over to the left.

5/1/00
Walla Walla
5:30 AM PDT
50 degrees
wind 3 MPH, scattered clouds. I was late. I didn't account for being at the edge of a time zone.

62 degrees
wind 15 MPH
clear sky

looking at Idaho, heavy overcast

5/8/00

5:30AM PDT
50 degrees
steady rain, The crows are unusually loud and chaotic. The rain is gentle. This lush landscape throbs even in this light.

8:44PM PDT
50 degrees
wind 1 MPH
heavy overcast. The only sounds are the wind, a distant airplane, the faint sounds of water in the drainage stream, and a short pounding echo from the neighbor.

5/15/00
5:22AM PDT
56 degrees
wind 2 MPH
with gusts
bird song and heavy
overcast. Breeze and
balmy air with fast moving
clouds on top of overcast
feels like rain

9:03 PM PDT
56 degrees
only a gentle whisp of wind
Coyotes singing up a storm.
Perfectly clear sky. A peach
orange light hugs the dark
hills. The moon is
brillant and rising behind
me. The sliver of light on
the edge of the bottle is
too beautiful. So precise.
So solid. So finely carved

On May 17 we have had an increase of 6.25 hours of light since the beginning of this project.
