Opening Reception; Thursday, September 28, 4 – 6 pm All events are free and open to the public Using the concept of The Confluence Project as a framework, the LCC Art Gallery presents the work of two Native artists from the Columbia River area, two painters whose work is inspired by the river, and ceramics students from Kelso high School who created a tile installation in conjunction with the Confluence Project. The Confluence Project is an initiative to reclaim, transform, and reimagine seven places along the historic Columbia River Basin through permanent art installations by Maya Lin. Each site along the 450-mile course of the project is a place where waterways merge or traditional peoples have gathered, and each was a scene of meeting between Native Americans and the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Architect’s drawings of the project overview and details of the Vancouver WA site provide a frame of reference for the artwork in the exhibit.
