WELCOME TO THE PHYSICS HOME PAGE!!

Here is where the search continues for the fundamental principles and fundamental particles which make up our universe! LCC's Physics Program celebrates the applied, cultural, and educational aspects of physics for engineering, physics, and natural science programs.

PHYSICS COURSE OFFERINGS FOR FALL, 2005:

PHYSICS 101: INTRODUCTORY PHYSICS, 1 section, Schaaf------ 5 credits with laboratory(fully transferable Associate of Arts Natural Science Lab Credit; also for technology and life/health science students).

Physics 101 emphasizes the scientific development of fundamental principles. Provides the first quarter of a sequence for students in various health science, technology, and pre-professional areas. Student-initiated motion studies introduce the fundamental principles of mechanics through studies of kinematics, Newton's Principles, energy and momentum conservation principles, and their rotational analogues. Students participate in supporting small group laboratory investigations. through studies of mechanical and electromagnetic waves, Prerequisite: PHYS Math 99 or consent of instructor.
Class meets MWTHF 9:00-9:50 with lab sections @ 9AM-NOON T or 1-4PM TH(choose one-also TH 9:00 meeting is general lab recitation attended by ALL PHYS 101 students).

PHYSICS 251: GENERAL PHYSICS, 1 Section, Schaaf 5 credits with laboratory.

Physics 251 Provides the first quarter of a calculus-based sequence for majors in the physical sciences, engineering, or mathematics. The Principles of Newtonian Mechanics are introduced and applied to problems involving particle and rigid body motion. Supporting laboratory investigations are included. Use of elementary calculus is sparing at first, then increases gradually throughout the term. Prerequisite: ENGR 121, MATH 151 concurrently or instructor's permission.
Class meets MWTHF 10:00-10:50 with lab sections @ 1-4PM T or 1-4PM TH(choose one-also TH 10:00 meeting is general lab recitation attended by ALL PHYS 251 students).
