  1. Discuss the role of groundwater in the hydrologic cycle.
  2. Explain the importance of groundwater as a resource.
  3. Explain the difference between porosity and permeability and how these relate to the movement of groundwater.
  4. Define the water table.
  5. Compare shape of the water table and shape of the land surface.
  6. Describe springs, wells, and artesian wells.
  7. Discuss several types of artesian systems, especially those found in North America.
  8. Explain how groundwater can be an agent of landscape change.
  9. Discuss the characteristics of karst.
  10. Discuss types of cave deposits and how and why they form.
  11. Discuss problems associated with use of groundwater.
  12. Describe hot springs, geysers, mudpots, and fumaroles.
